Petals, wings, leaves and flakes

As the season springs into motion, I'm seeing some pretty winged things hovering over petals in the yard. Have you noticed the beautiful qualities of translucence and reflection which their thinness allows? Wings and petals, like snow crystals, are just thick enough to function sturdily (fly!), but thin and shiny enough to allow light through and reflect from their pretty textures and shapes.
